Casting Call "The Nerd"

WHEN:     Mon & Tues September 18 & 19, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm

WHERE:  637 Fisher Rd. Grosse Pointe, the house of Jonathon Davis

SYNOPSIS:  The action centers on the hilarious dilemma of an aspiring architect who is visited by a man he's never met but who saved his life during the war in Vietnam, and to whom he feels a tremendous debt—But this visitor turns out to be an incredibly inept, hopelessly stupid, bumbling oaf (or “nerd”) with no social sense, little intelligence and less tact who outstays his welcome with a vengeance, seemingly destroying the protagonists life as he knows it, but is it all for the best?

CHARACTERS

Willum Cubbert: An architect, currently designing a hotel for Mr. Waldgrave, and a pushover. He's kind and intelligent, but Tansy says he "could use a little gumption." He lacks the backbone to stand up for himself. He rents a room in his house to Axel.

Tansy McGinnis: A smart woman who is as attracted to Willum as he is to her, but who has been offered her dream job as a television weather forecaster in Washington, D.C., and feels guilty for leaving Willum behind. Idealistic, perky, and just as kind as Willum.

Axel Hammond: Willum's best friend. He is a drama critic, who comes off as a bit pretentious, is often inebriated, and always ready with a sarcastic comment.

Rick Steadman: The "nerd". He's oblivious to insult, socially awkward and inept, nto very bright, and lacks manners or sensitivity. He says he works as an inspector at a chalk factory in Wisconsin where he’s lived with his brother since the war.

Warnock “Ticky” Waldgrave: A boisterous, dim-witted businessman, owner of eight hotels, with no creativity or tact. He never smiles.

Clelia Waldgrave: Ticky's high-strung, put-upon wife. She holds back all of her emotions, and only releases her stress when she can break "something small."

Thor Waldgrave: The Waldgraves' terror of a son, a spoiled but crafty brat.
